History:

Personality:

"Hope sustains organics in times of vulnerability. We... admire the concept."

To understand Legion as an individual, one must understand the platform Legion used first. Platform Platform2A93, at the beginning of its mission, hosted over a thousand Geth which are known as Legion in a single unique platform meant for interacting with organics beyond the Perseus Veil. The platform itself is small for a Geth, with communicating with other species (Something very new to the Geth) and investigating the disappearance of Commander Shepard its main purpose. The amount of Geth on the platform networked together allowed for them to have enough intelligence to make important decisions related to their kind beyond the Veil, as well as to communicate in the same language as Organic species, the first of its kind to do so. In that way, Legion is one of a kind and had many firsthand experiences involving organics that others of its kind did not, something that shaped the individual being that it became later in the game.

While the Geth are considered a hostile species by many, Commander Shepard is soon to realize that it is not the whole of them that are. When the woman reactivates the platform the Geth are willing to share their information in order to obtain mutual cooperation. It explains over several conversations how the Geth came to be, what their plans for the future were and more importantly, why some of them had chosen to work with Shepard's enemy, Sovereign in order to better themselves. However, they fell under the Reaper's control instead, and in a mission to finally stop the Heretics, as they call them, Legion allows the human to make the choice to whether or not to rewrite the Geth and allow them to join the Consensus again, or to destroy them when they Geth on the platform arrive at almost a 50/50 split on what to do. This decision to allow the fate of the Geth to be put into the hands of another is a very defining and unique moment for Legion, and when the platform becomes host to a single AI, stays with it.

First of all, Legion is shown both before and after it becomes a true Artificial Intelligence that he always has what is best for its species in mind. It tells Commander Shepard in Mass Effect 2 that the goal for all Geth is for all units to become networked together, as being networked gives them enough processing power to gain consciousness and intelligence. A hundred Geth can run a Geth Prime platform (A twelve foot tall, shielded and armored infantry unit that deals massive damage.) and a thousand make up Legion's own, allowing it too communicate- It states that it does not know what will happen when their superstructure is completed and all of the Geth are uploaded, because "Our intelligence will increase beyond calculable measures. We will be capable of imagining new futures."

Legion chooses to share this information along with other parts of Geth history with Shepard despite the risk of mentioning such in a universe where AI's are universally feared, as she was the one who reactivated him in the first place. On top of that, Shepard chose to trust it enough to fight with her and her teammates in the battle against the Collectors. This also shows that Legion gains a sense of trust for those outside of its species, something else that is imparted into the personality when it becomes a singular AI. While some of the crewmates are still wary of him and the story of a split in Geth beliefs, it never seems to fall back into suspicion against Organics, nor do they complain (at least, not much) as above all else, the Reapers are the biggest threat.

That does not mean that there are not a few incidents, however. After Tail'Zorah is summoned to the Quarian Fleet on charges of treason in bringing Geth to the Flotilla, Legion attempts to upload information from her Omni-Tool to send to the Geth, believing that they should be aware of weapons tests done by the Creators on inactive units and their plans to attack them. Shepard is forced to intervene and appeals to the both of them to focus on the Reaper threat at hand- After a few long moments in a standoff, Legion agrees not to send the data and Tali'Zorah, understanding that he only meant to protect his people like she with hers, offers him nonclassified data to hold him over until their mission was finished. At this point the Geth on the platform seems to gain understanding of dealing with teammates of other species, and that its teammate's trust is ultimately more important at the moment.

Later, Legion tells Shepard that the majority of the Geth like itself do not wish to harm organics. He hints at attempts to make peace with the Quarians a few times before, however they have fallen though due to their hatred and mistrust of the Geth. This also shows when Legion becomes fully actualized, as even when in Mass Effect 3 the Fleet Admirals are hostile toward him and even talk about taking the platform in for experiments, no matter if Shepard steps in to defend him or not, it states firmly that they have no intentions of harming their Creators, and offers assistance with information and fighting the Reaper-Controlled Geth.

All of these things shape Legion, when he finally is able to hack the Reaper's code and calculate a future in which he can upload to every Geth, allowing them free will. At first he was hesitant to bring such up, but Shepard's encouragement and understanding before make him volunteer the information, securing trust as a core pillar of who the singular unit, Legion, is. Along with daring to be hopeful in the face of insurmountable odds that perhaps, everything could work out between the Geth and the Quarians and they could face the Reapers together. After all, the living effigy to beating the odds Commander Shepard, was on their side, and Tali'Zorah an Admiral of the Quarian fleet with a heavy pull to things.

In his first moments of individuality, Legion chooses to put everything he has learned in his time- Loyalty to his people, trust in those he considers his teammates, a want for peace to build a new future with the Creators- forward. Shepard goes along with it at first, but when the Quarian fleet does not stop attacking and Tali'Zorah pleads for their lives, reluctantly but firmly she tells Legion to stop. Incensed and betrayed, unable to understand why Shepard would not side with the obviously stronger fleet, the AI attacks and attempts to kill her so that it can continue to upload the code.

It finds itself stopped by the very Quarian who had first shown enough trust to work with it, and as Legion's hardware fails, it bitterly asks her if he has a soul, and she replies that he indeed does before the Geth dies, the fate of its people going with it.

Items on your character at canon point:

Omni-Tool, Attack Drone (Rechargable) and his sniper rifle, the M-98 Widow Anti-Material Rifle with about 10 clips of single shot ammo.

Abilities, Strengths and Weaknesses:
Abilities:

AI Hacking: Improved AI Hacking
→Legion has the ability to hack any synthetic in the In Game universe sans the Reapers and turn it into a proxy to fight for him. He can also overclock the machine to give it a similar shield as his own to protect it during the length of the hack from enemy fire. In The Box, this will not be done without player permission of course.

Combat Drone: Explosive Drone
→A rechargeable, spherical drone which repairs itself when not in use. It can be used to attack specific targets or to provide cover fire for Legion while he moves place to place. It uses Assault Rifle style weapons and when it runs out of ammo or becomes too damaged, zooms in close and releases a "...Pulsing energy that inflicts high damage on all nearby enemies."

Geth Infiltrator: Geth Trooper
→Much like Krogan have secondary and tertiary organs, Legion has created redundant systems for its most critical functions, increasing its health and allowing it to take more hits in vital areas. As seen previously by it having half of its chest blown out.

Geth Shield Boost: Improved Geth Shield Boost
→Legion's shields are some of the strongest around, about 5-6 bars in game. As a synthetic, he can choose to reroute the power from his shield's generator into his weapons', temporarily losing his shield but gaining an amazing amount of destructive power. This is usually done with his sniper rifle while he is in cover for enemies that need to be taken down fast and quick while his teammates provide cover fire.

Strengths:
Legion, as a Synthetic; Never tires, never hungers or thirsts, is immune to viral and bacterial infections and disease. He is fully operational off the grid with little worry of 'battery power' due likely being powered by Element Zero, which in the Mass Effect Universe, also powers the SSV Normandy (And Normandy 2). Legion also is a proficient soldier, with very little sway on its own when firing its sniper rifle, as it has no need to breath. Its optical sensors can pick up things almost 360 degrees around it, except for just right behind it. Legion can store hundreds of zettabytes of information on board its mobile platform, and also has the ability to link up with the Geth servers (and share with other synthetics or electrical devices, if he so chooses.) To access, trade or swap for more information.

Most importantly, one of Legion's strengths which also is a great weakness for him is his ability to Self-Modify his core programming. As an AI without shackles to keep him from decision making he is able to decide for itself what sort of things are important to it- Such as people, behaviors, or protocols.

Weaknesses:
Of the five senses, Legion only has two, Seeing and hearing. While he does have the ability to hold things, weigh them to see if they are 'heavy' or now and search his database for the makeup of the object, he does not have the ability to truly feel them. As for smell and taste, Legion has no olfactory or gustatory sensors, unlike the more humanoid form of EDI made to blend in. Instead, it is able to run an air or molecule sample through its systems to find out what the object is made of, or the chemical levels in the air.

Legion is also for the first time in its life alone. Up until a few hours before its death, the platform it uses hosted over a thousand Geth on it, all in communication and involved in the decision making process. As mentioned to EDI in Mass Effect 2, it has not had a chance to phantom being without the others of its kind, and it asks her how she gets by. EDI's reply is a somewhat amused "Some minutes are harder than others."

Legion will also have to make decisions on its own as a new AI, and seeing how his first sets of decisions clearly did not end well for it, this will be quite an experience for it that will shape how it interacts with others in the future.

Alert... Alert... Alert...

The first thing Legion comes back to is all of its non-critical systems shut down. LED off, blue circuitry dimmed to a faint pulse as the Geth, for the first time ever, feels groggy. Even when the Dyson sphere was attack he had not felt like this, a great loss that slowed down its processors down almost completely. The Geth immediately stiffens and scrambles to get its feet underneath him, a process hampered with his platform's fine motor control shut down in an attempt to preserve what was left.

What was happening? Where was it? This obviously is not Rannoch, the Creator homeworld were he had just been long deserted and-

Rannoch.

Playback only takes a moment, and Legion stays still for moments even longer. Noises of unhappiness and anger slip unconsciously from, tinny in the Geth language. They had been betrayed, he had been- Pleading for the lives of his kind had not been enough, and in a last desperate moment to try to preserve the Geth future, he had attacked Shepard-Commander.

The one organic who had put their trust in the Geth, who had worked with them to try and stop the Reaper threat. All of gone the moment the Quarian-Creators refused to listen and continued their attack. It would have only been logical to pick the Geth over them, a superior force without special needs in food and suits and with more firepower...

Legion had always known organics could be illogical, but they- he had thought Shepard was an outlier to this fact, different.

Diagnostics pop to give the Geth a report on the platform, heavily damaged. He needed to find a safe place to repair, find tools to do the work. Legion is unsure of where he is but communications are offline, unable to connect. A quick visual and heat scan of the area shows no other signs of life in the room and hallway around it, and with its current skills so focused on running the platform, this will have to do.

Legion walks unsteadily out of the room, looking for a more fortified area in the building which it could defend if necessary. Self-Preservation had to take focus over the unfathomable question as to why, so he stores that away for later.

A Geth- The last Geth- Has never felt more truly alone than in these last few moments, and it knows that it cannot count on anything else to help.
